The Filmmaking 101 is an integrated arts program that takes students on the journey of filmmaking from developing an idea to filming an actual project. During the program term, students learn narrative and documentary-style writing formats as well as how to turn their ideas into working screenplays. The program also offers a videography component where students learn how to use various camera shots, develop storyboards and edit footage. A local, professional filmmaker will serve in the classroom as the Resident Artist. Filmmaking 101 can be offered in conjunction with Language Arts, Marketing, Coordinated Studies and Media Technology classes. During the residency, students will write, produce, direct and edit documentaries on social issues that directly affect them. The program culminates with a schoolwide screening of each film. |
